AfroLangTech

An African Languages Technology Hub โ€” building free tools, research, and corpus development for African languages, led by a Yoruba linguist. Yoruba is our first, deepest language; the roadmap extends across the continent.

AfroLangTech is AceLearn Services' hub for African language technology โ€” free, corpus-driven tools and services for the thousands of languages spoken across the continent. We are starting with Yoruba, where our own linguistic expertise is deepest, and building outward from there. The flagship Yoruba tool, ToneMarker, assigns tone marks through corpus matching at the trigram, bigram, and word levels โ€” no artificial intelligence generates tones, every mark is attested. Scholars are invited to use the tool freely and report unmatched items, which are incorporated into regular database updates.

Paste any Yoruba text and receive fully tone-marked output drawn directly from the AceLearn corpus. Three complimentary submissions per day. Unmatched words are flagged and reviewed daily.

Every tone mark is drawn from attested native-speaker usage across over 12 million verified Yoruba words. The system does not generate tones algorithmically.
